Strathcona County RCMP and Enforcement Services and Alberta Health Services Hold Car Seat Clinic

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP & Enforcement Services in partnership with Alberta Health Services, conducted a car seat check on Aug. 28, 2019 at the Emerald Hills Walmart parking lot from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Throughout the check, certified car seat technicians inspected child occupant restraints in 71 vehicles.

Strathcona County Municipal Drug Unit Charge Pharmacy Assistant for Trafficking

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County Municipal Drug Unit (SCMDU) with the assistance from the Strathcona County Property Crime Unit began a drug investigation on Aug. 19, 2019. The investigation revealed that a female employee at a local pharmacy was taking Percocet’s (Opioids) from the pharmacy and selling them for a profit.

As a result of the investigation search warrants were executed on Aug. 20, 2019, at two separate residences in Edmonton. During the search additional Percocet’s and a shotgun were located and seized.

Strathcona County RCMP Respond to Bomb Threat – UPDATE #1

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP responded to the Emerald Hills Shopping Center at approximately 12:07 p.m. today for a report of a bomb threat. Staff at Vision Electronics received a phone call from an unknown person that there was an explosive in the store and immediately called police.

RCMP arrived on scene and evacuated all staff and customers from Visions and surrounding stores.

Strathcona County RCMP Respond to Bomb Threat

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are currently on scene at the Emerald Hills Shopping Center in Sherwood Park, Alta. as a result of a bomb threat.

Police advise traffic is being re-routed away from Emerald Drive in Sherwood Park. The Strathcona Community Hospital is still accessible to the public.

Media and public are asked to avoid the area until further notice.

An update will be provided when possible.

Strathcona County RCMP Seek to Identify Driver Involved in Pedestrian Collision

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are looking to identify the driver involved in a collision on June 13, 2019, at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the Synergy Center parking lot.

A 72-year-old female pedestrian was hit by a vehicle backing up and sustained an injury as a result of the collision.

The vehicle is described as a white passenger car and the female driver is described as approximately 40 years old. The female driver did stop to exchange information but the pedestrian did not take down the information.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Break and Enter at Local Jewelry Store

Sherwood Park, Alta. – On May 21, 2019, Strathcona County RCMP responded to a break and enter at Gem Gallerie on Broadmoor Blvd in Sherwood Park.

Sometime between the late evening of May 20, 2019 and early morning of May 21, 2019 unknown suspects forced entry into the jewelry store and fled with over $500,000 worth of jewelry.

Many of the pieces stolen were on consignment by individuals trying to sell their jewelry. Police believe this was not a crime of opportunity but a well thought out event.

Strathcona County RCMP Seeking Assistance in Locating 72-Year-Old Male

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance in locating 72-year-old Robert Edmonstone. 

The last confirmed location of Edmonstone was at his residence on June 24, 2019 at approximately 9:00 a.m.  There have been unconfirmed reports that Edmonstone was seen at the Hope Mission Low Mobility area on June 25 or 26. He is known to frequent other shelters and the Royal Alexander Hospital.

Strathcona County RCMP on Scene of Incident – Range Road 233 – Update #2

Strathcona County, Alta. – One male has been charged in relation to a firearms incident on June 22, 2019.

Paulus Henricus Boland (69) of no fixed address has been charged with:

  • Pointing a firearm
  • Careless use of a firearm (x 5)
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Uttering threats

Boland was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on June 26, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.

Strathcona County RCMP Warn Residents of the Distraction Theft Method

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP urges residents to be diligent with their personal property as there have been reports of distraction thefts.

The scheme can take many forms including someone claiming your tire is flat, your vehicle is damaged, you dropped money or asking for directions. During this distraction another suspect steals from the victim whether it be a purse, credit/debit cards or jewelry. These incidents of distraction thefts typically occur in parking lots, bank and malls.
