RCMP urge residents that are looking to buy goods off of these sites to do their research before hand. If a deal seems too good to be true or doesn’t quite seem legit there is a reason behind it and more checking needs to be completed.

Police also suggest that residents protect their items by writing down serial numbers or mark items in way that easily identifies them as their property. People can also keep their proof of purchase, their invoice or receipt in the event their items go missing or are stolen.
