Strathcona County, Alberta – Strathcona County RCMP would like to advise the incident has been resolved on 84th Avenue.
This morning at approximately 2:03 a.m. Strathcona County RCMP responded to a firearms complaint at a business near 18th Street and 24th Street located on 84th Avenue. Police received information that a male pointed a firearm at a female. The female left immediately and contacted police.
Police had reason to believe the suspect was still inside a business and potentially had another female inside with him. Due to the nature of the incident the RCMP's Emergency Response Team (ERT) was called in to assist in the arrest of the male.
For several hours, traffic was diverted in the area while the RCMP were managing this incident.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. a female was released from the building without incident and the suspect was safely apprehended two hours later by police.
Neither of the females involved were injured.
RCMP thank the public for their patience during this incident and advise the road is now open for the public.
This incident remains under police investigation and a further update will be provided if charges are laid.

The Strathcona County RCMP are currently on scene investigating an unfolding incident in the industrial area of Sherwood Park.
