Strathcona County, Alberta – This morning at approximately 9:35 a.m. Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on the southbound Highway 216 ramp leading to Highway 14 eastbound.
A commercial delivery truck was travelling on the Highway 216 exit ramp towards Highway 14 eastbound when it collided with the rear-end of a gravel truck parked on the northeast side of the roadway.
The driver of the parked gravel truck was outside of the vehicle at the time and was not injured.
The 39-year-old female driver of the delivery truck was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.
The name of the deceased is not being released.
Strathcona County RCMP Traffic Services and RCMP Collision Analyst were on scene for several hours investigating the collision. The ramp will continue to be closed for approximately two more hours.
