Celebration of Lights 2025

Celebration of Lights Pic

Members of Strathcona County Citizens on Patrol (SCCOPS) attended the Celebration of Lights in Sherwood Park to operate the Lost Child booth, handing out wristbands and patrolling the grounds. We we delighted to receive the feedback below from the County, It's nice know your efforts make a difference.

Good morning,

I just wanted to take a moment to say a big THANK YOU for your contributions to this year’s Celebration of Lights Festival!

This year’s event saw over 7500 people come and join our event to start celebrating the holiday season! There were wagon rides with Santa and Mrs Claus, roasting Marshmallows to make their s’mores, strolls down Merry Glow Lane enjoying hot chocolate, the opportunity to write a letter to Santa, visit with an assortment of characters, enjoy beautiful carols, and participate in all the amazing activities at the event inside and out. This event is a favourite within the community enjoyed by young and old, and the unofficial start to the Holiday Season in Strathcona County.

Volunteers within the community make a difference to events like this, and this year was no exception. It was fantastic to see Citizens on Patrol at our event again this year, engaging with young and old to make sure the collective group stayed safe. I saw many positive interactions from within your membership while out and about in the crowd, which helped to foster a real safe community feel to the event. Thank you for being such an integral part of our event, and I hope you and your membership also had fun.
