Strathcona County RCMP on Scene of Collision on Highway 15 and Highway 830

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP advise they are currently on scene of a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 15 and Highway 830 (Range Road 214).

Motorists are asked to avoid the area while the investigation is ongoing. Traffic is expected to be diverted for an known period of time while the investigation takes place and the scene is cleared.

Strathcona County RCMP Municipal Drug Unit Seizes Synthetic Cannabinoids

Sherwood Park, Alta. –  Strathcona County RCMP Municipal Drug Unit began investigating a drug complaint at the beginning of July, 2019. As a result, on Feb. 27, 2020 a search warrant was executed at a local business located in the southwest area of Sherwood Park, Alta.

During the search over 700 synthetic cannabinoids were seized from the location with a street value of over $8000. Synthetic cannabinoids are a Schedule II substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.  The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.

Strathcona County RCMP Warn of the Dangers of Fatigued Driving

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Most people are aware of the dangers of drinking and driving, and now with the legalization of Marijuana, driving high. However, not many people know about the dangers of fatigued driving and that it can be just as fatal. Like alcohol, fatigue impairment slows reaction time, decreases awareness, impairs judgment and increases the risk of being involved in a collision.

Strathcona County RCMP Seek Public Assistance to Identify Theft Suspects

Strathcona County, Alta. - Strathcona County RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in gathering information on the following crime:

On Dec. 8, 2019, at approximately 5:07 p.m. RCMP responded to a theft complaint at the Shopper’s Drug Mart on Baseline Road in Sherwood Park. Two female suspects entered the store and while one served as a distraction and lookout the second female stole over a thousand dollars’ worth of merchandise. Items taken included several bottles of perfume, cologne and a portable speaker.

Strathcona County RCMP – Neighbours Keen Eye Assists Police With Arrest

Sherwood Park, Alta. – On Dec. 4, 2019, Strathcona County RCMP responded after a keen eyed citizen called police to report that grain was being removed from a neighbours’ property and did not believe it was authorized. Police attended the rural location near Josephburg, Alta. and determined that a grain company had made arrangements to buy the grain.

Strathcona County RCMP – Public Assistance Being Sought to Locate Wanted Man

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are looking for public assistance in locating a “wanted” man who is believed to be responsible for robbing a gas station and assaulting the store cashier at approximately 5:15 a.m. on Nov. 17, 2019.

A masked suspect entered a gas station on Highway 16 in Strathcona County and demanded that the cashier open the gas pumps and hand over money and cigarettes. During the interaction the suspect assaulted the cashier and fled in a vehicle. The cashier went to the hospital with minor injuries.

Strathcona County RCMP Make Armed Robbery Arrest

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) have arrested a male youth in connection to an armed robbery that occurred in July.

On July 29, 2019 RCMP responded to an armed robbery in the parking lot of the Sherwood Park Mall. The victim reported a male suspect produced what appeared to be a knife and demanded the victim’s belongings. The suspect then took off in a vehicle with the victim’s items and police were called immediately. No injuries were reported.

Strathcona County RCMP Urges Preparation and Patience in Winter Driving

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Winter driving on snow covered roads and highways can be a pleasant adventure or it can be frustrating, tiring and sometimes even hazardous. Driving during the winter months can be stressful. It doesn’t matter whether you are travelling during the holidays or running errands, everyone should be prepared to cope with the difficulties of winter driving.
