Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP responded to the Emerald Hills Shopping Center at approximately 12:07 p.m. today for a report of a bomb threat. Staff at Vision Electronics received a phone call from an unknown person that there was an explosive in the store and immediately called police.
RCMP arrived on scene and evacuated all staff and customers from Visions and surrounding stores.
The RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU) and Edmonton Police Service EDU attended the scene and conducted a search of Visions and Pet Smart. No explosives or suspicious items were located in Visions or any other stores in the Emerald Hills Shopping Centre.
The scene as been cleared and the Shopping Centre has resumed normal operation.
Strathcona County RCMP want to thank the public for their cooperation while police and assisting units ensured the area was safe.
