Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP’s General Investigation Section (GIS) has made an arrest in a year long data breach investigation.
On Nov. 9, 2020, RCMP received a complaint regarding an alleged data breach from a local business. GIS along with the assistance of the RCMP’s Digital Forensic Services identified a male suspect.
Alexander STRILETS (57) of Edmonton, Alta. has been arrested and charged with:
- Unauthorized use of a computer
- Mischief in relation to computer data
Strathcona County RCMP want to take this opportunity to remind both businesses and the public alike to report any internet-related offences to police, and to be mindful of their business and home network security.
