Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP Crime Reduction Unit arrested a male in relation to drug offences following a traffic stop.
On Feb. 24, 2022 at 8:43 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP Crime Reduction Unit initiated a traffic stop due to a traffic violation on Highway 16 near the Victoria Trail exit in Sherwood Park, Alta.
The male driver of the vehicle provide inadequate information as to his identity and as a result was detained and later arrested for obstruction. During a search incidental to arrest police located what is suspected to be methamphetamine and cocaine on the male’s possession.
During a search of the vehicle, police located drug paraphernalia, ammunition, bear spray and what is believed to be methamphetamine, cocaine and gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB). Inside the trunk, police also located and seized a large machete.
Total seizure included 64.3 grams of methamphetamine, 10.4 grams of cocaine, and 500 ml of GHB.
Mitchell Hoffman (25) of Spruce Grove, Alta. has been charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3)
- Obstruction
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
Hoffman was released on conditions following a Judicial Interim Release hearing and is scheduled to appear on March 23, 2022 in Sherwood Park Provincial Court.
