Strathcona County RCMP Arrest Male for Sexual Assault on a Youth – Update #1

Strathcona County, Alta. – As a result of the request to the public for additional victims to come forward, Strathcona County RCMP have identified an additional thirteen victims.

Dean Cherneske (60) of Sherwood Park, Alta. has been additionally charged with the following offences on June 21, 2022.

  • Sexual assault (x11)
  • Sexual interference (x2)

Cherneske has been released from police custody with conditions and is set to appear in court for these charges on June 29, 2022 in Sherwood Park Provincial Court.

Strathcona County RCMP continue to believe there may be additional victims and encourage those individuals to come forward.

Strathcona County RCMP is a member of the Violence, Trauma and Suicide Prevention (VTSP) protocol, and is committed to working with the Strathcona County community to support resident safety. This protocol guides how leaders in the community can work together to assess community impact and support residents when traumatic events occur. While RCMP lead the criminal investigation, local partners including Victim Services, SAFFRON Centre and Strathcona County are providing support to those community members affected by traumatic events such as this.
