Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP Municipal Drug Unit (SCMDU) conducted an investigation into drug trafficking activities in Sherwood Park and Edmonton, Alta., over the past several months. As a result of the investigation, evidence was obtained that led to the arrest of five individuals and they are expected to face numerous charges including: trafficking a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance, and possession of proceeds of crime.
In addition, two of the individuals are also facing charges in relation to the possession of a prohibited handgun.
As part of the investigation police conducted a search warrant at a residence in Edmonton, Alta. and seized what is believed to be over 1.1 kilograms of cocaine, 225 grams of fentanyl, 920 grams of methamphetamine, 530 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, over 2000 prescription pills of various types, Canadian currency, a handgun, ammunition and drug trafficking paraphernalia.
The investigation is ongoing at this time and additional arrests and charges are anticipated.
