Sherwood Park, Alta. – On Sept 25, 2023, at 6:00 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP were called to a residence in the Glen Allan area for a possible explosive device. While cleaning out a room in the residence, the homeowner located a suspicious device. Police quickly secured the area and found what appeared to be a grenade.
Members consulted with the RCMP Explosive Device Unit (EDU), who advised they would attend the location. The device was examined and was confirmed inoperable. EDU will consult with the military for additional testing.
RCMP were on scene until approximately 9:45 p.m., to ensure the safety of the residence, its occupants and surrounding neighbours.
It can be difficult to determine if something is real or not by looking at it. People need to exercise caution when dealing with explosive devices and should contact police immediately.
