Strathcona County RCMP on Scene of Two-Vehicle Collision on Highway 21 - UPDATE

Strathcona County, Alta. – On Oct. 14, 2020 at approximately 3:15 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on Highway 21 and Township Road 534.

Preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle was crossing Highway 21 westbound on Township Road 534 when it was struck by a gravel truck travelling southbound on Highway 21.

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services are currently on scene of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 21 near Township Road 534.

Highway 21 southbound near Township Road 534 is down to one lane. RCMP are asking motorists to avoid the area and choose alternate routes if possible.

Strathcona County RCMP – Hunting in Strathcona County

Strathcona County, Alta. – During hunting season, rural residents may hear firearms being discharged. The RCMP has received numerous calls about hearing shots fired, which have been determined to be legal based on the bylaws and regulations.

A person may hunt within the Special Control Area, including any part of the Urban Service Area, which is also within the Special Control Area (see-attached map). A person may use or discharge a shotgun, muzzle-loading rifle, crossbow or bow and arrow if:

Strathcona County RCMP Investigates Firearms Complaint

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in gathering information on the following investigation:

Sometime overnight on Oct. 10, 2020 police have reason to believe a firearm was discharged near the intersection of Sherwood Drive and Festival Way.

No one was injured but police would like to speak to anyone who may have heard or witnessed anything during this time.

Strathcona County RCMP Municipal Drug Unit Investigation Leads to Drug Seizure

Strathcona County, Alta - Strathcona County Municipal Drug Unit (SCMDU) began investigating a drug complaint at the end of July. As a result, on Aug. 26, 2020 a search warrant was executed at a residence located in Edmonton, Alta.

During the search, several items were seized including drug paraphernalia, a stun gun, brass knuckles and an undisclosed amount of cash. Police also seized what is suspected to be 557 grams of fentanyl, 947 grams of cocaine, 712 grams of methamphetamine and 805 grams of crack cocaine.

Strathcona County RCMP on Scene of Incident – Range Road 224 – Update #1

Strathcona County, Alta – Two males have been arrested and taken into custody without incident in relation to this investigation.

Traffic is no longer being re-routed.

No injures have been reported and the investigation will continue.

Strathcona County RCMP on Scene of Incident – Range Road 224

Strathcona County, Alta – Strathcona County RCMP along with the Emergency Response Team are on scene of an active investigation involving a firearm.

The RCMP have set up an area of containment north and south of Range Road 224 near Township Road 523.

There is no risk to the general public given the containment area established by the RCMP.

An update will be provided when available and the public/media are thanked for the cooperation in avoiding the area.

Strathcona County RCMP Seek Assistance to Identify Theft Suspect

Sherwood Park, Alta. – The RCMP are investigating the theft of mail from three apartment complexes and seeking public assistance to identify the male who is believed to be involved.

On Aug. 22, 2020 at approximately 5:15 a.m., the unidentified male entered three apartment complexes on Cloverbar Road in Sherwood Park. Once inside the male pried open the mailboxes and took several pieces of mail.

Sherwood Park, Alta. – As the new school year starts, the Strathcona County RCMP, along with our enforcement partners will be involved in educating the public on back to school safety. For children this is an exciting time of year and they may forget basic road safety rules as they walk, bicycle or ride the bus to school. Motorists are urged to use caution when driving through residential areas and to adhere to speed limits in school and playground zones.
