Strathcona County RCMP Respond to Drive-by Shooting – Update #2

Strathcona County, Alta. – The Strathcona County RCMP continues to investigate the drive by shooting that occurred in the Summerwood area of Sherwood Park, Alta. and are requesting the public’s assistance.

Police believe the suspect vehicle involved is a 2012 white Dodge Ram Mega Cab truck. The suspect vehicle was observed on video fleeing the Summerwood area immediately following the shooting. The same vehicle also confirmed to be involved in a break and enter near Lac La Biche, Alta. in the early morning hours of Aug. 27, 2021.

RCMP Major Crime Unit Looking for Possible Discarded Firearm

Sherwood Park, Alta. – The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is requesting the assistance of residents living in the Clarkdale Meadows, Lakeland Ridge, Chelsea Heights, Charlton Heights and the Clover Bar Ranch areas of Sherwood Park, Alta.

 

The alleged firearm used in a homicide that occurred on May 7, 2021 in Sherwood Park has not been located and police believe it could have been discarded in the above neighbourhoods.

 

Police are requesting residents to check around their yards and sheds to ensure the discarded firearm is not on their property.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Firearms Incident Related Death – Update #3

Sherwood Park, Alta. – The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is requesting the public’s assistance in obtaining residential video footage in the neighbourhoods between Baseline Road and Lakeland Drive (North/South) and between Highway 21 and Sherwood Drive (East/West).

Police are asking residents to check their residential camera’s for footage of anybody walking in their neighbourhood on May 7, 2021, between 6:20 a.m. and 6:50 a.m., in the following areas:

Strathcona County RCMP and SAFFRON Centre Implement a Supported Reporting Protocol for Sexual Assault Survivors

Strathcona County, Alta. – The Strathcona County RCMP is proud to be collaborating with SAFFRON Centre in the implementation of a Supported Reporting Protocol (SRP).

The SRP has been established in the hopes of increasing comfort levels in reporting sexual assaults and offering more freedom of choice surrounding the reporting process itself.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Firearms Incident Related Death – Update #1

Sherwood Park, Alta. – RCMP advise that Baseline Road between Highway 21 and Cloverbar Road is now clear for traffic.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has taken carriage of the investigation.

The RCMP are seeking dash cam footage from the area of Baseline Road near Highway 21 and Cloverbar Road between 6:15 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. on May 7, 2021.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Firearms Incident Related Death

Sherwood Park, Alta. – On May 7, 2021 at 6:30 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to firearms incident on Baseline Road in Sherwood Park, Alta.

Preliminary investigation reveals the suspect allegedly fired shots towards a vehicle and then fled the area. Emergency Services attended and one person had already succumbed to their injuries and was declared deceased and another transported to hospital with serious injuries and current status is unknown.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigating Two Suspicious Fires

Sherwood Park, Alta. – The Strathcona County RCMP are currently investigating two suspicious fires that occurred within the same week in Sherwood Park, Alta.

On April 27, 2021 at 5:56 a.m., RCMP and Strathcona County Fire responded to a deck fire at a residence on Charlotte Way in Sherwood Park. The homeowner located a small fire on the lower back deck after the fire alarm went off. The fire was extinguished with a garden hose and no injuries were reported. RCMP Police Dog Service attended to assist with the investigation.

Strathcona County RCMP Mail Theft Safety Tips

Sherwood Park, Alta. – In the past week the Strathcona County RCMP have received calls regarding mailboxes which had been broken into along Ridgeland Cres and Dawson Drive in Sherwood Park, Alta. It has not been determined what/if any mail was stolen but because it is a busy time of year for tax returns, Strathcona County RCMP wanted to remind citizens about some basic safety tips regarding mail & parcel delivery:

Strathcona County RCMP Advise of Area Detours During Fire Investigation on Wye Road and Sherwood Drive – Update 2

Strathcona County, Alta.— Strathcona County RCMP, along with the Strathcona County RCMP General Investigation Section, have continued to investigate this structure fire. The fire investigator completed the examination of the structure on April 24, 2021.

On April 24, 2021, Matthew Benjamin Flanagan (32) of no fixed address, was charged with:

Intentionally or recklessly cause damage by fire

Mischief over $5,000

Following a judicial hearing, Flanagan was remanded into custody to speak to bail in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on April 28, 2021.
