Strathcona County RCMP Restores the Crime Reduction Unit

Strathcona County, Alta. – The Strathcona County RCMP is pleased to announce the return of the Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) to the community starting on Jan 17, 2022.

The Crime Reduction Unit will consist of a specialized team of six RCMP members that will target crime through enhanced intelligence gathering and application. These officers, with the support of civilian analysts, will focus on providing actionable intelligence to front line members with increased information sharing amongst enforcement partners.

Strathcona County RCMP Arrest Male and Female for Fraud Offences

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP have arrested a male and female for attempting to purchase a vehicle using fraudulent identification.

On Dec. 14, 2021, Strathcona County RCMP Property Crime Unit began investigating a report that a female attempted to purchase a vehicle at a local dealership using fraudulent identification. The female was arrested at the dealership in Sherwood Park, Alta. when she attempted to complete the purchase.

Strathcona County RCMP Arrest Two People for Mail Theft

Strathcona County, Alta. – On Dec. 13, 2021 at 3:27 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to a report of an alleged break and enter into a mailbox in the Nottingham area of Sherwood Park, Alta.

Police located the vehicle involved and conducted a traffic stop on Wye Road near Ordze Avenue in Sherwood Park and two people were arrested.

Incidental to arrest the vehicle was searched and police located stolen mail, identification cards, bank cards, mail keys and cheques.

Strathcona County RCMP Remind Motorists to Drive Sober This Holiday Season

Strathcona County, Alta. – With the holiday season in full swing, the Strathcona County RCMP want to remind motorists to drive sober. Although impaired driving is an important safety focus year round, the RCMP typically sees an increase in impaired driving this time of year as people celebrate the holiday season.

As part of impaired-driving-awareness month, the Strathcona County RCMP in collaboration with our County enforcement partners will be conducting various check stops though Strathcona County during the month of December.

Strathcona County RCMP Joint Forces Operation Leads to Ten Arrests

Sherwood Park, Alta. - On December 8, 2021, members of the Strathcona County RCMP joined forces for an operation with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team's (ALERT) Human Trafficking Counter Exploitation Unit targeting individuals seeking Sexual Services for Consideration.

During this operation, ten individuals were arrested and each charged with a single count of Obtaining Sexual Services for Consideration, and released on documents compelling them to attend Strathcona County Provincial Court on Jan. 19, 2021.

Strathcona County RCMP and Emergency Services Responded to Sudden Death

Sherwood Park, Alta. - On Nov. 23, 2021, at 2:49 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to a 911 call from Emergency Services to assist with an unconscious male in the area of Sherwood Drive and the 2000 block in Sherwood Park, Alta.

Strathcona County RCMP immediately attended the scene. The 29-year-old male was treated by Emergency Services on scene and then transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital. Police attended the hospital with the male and was advised by EMS after some time that the male was pronounced deceased.

Strathcona County RCMP Currently on Scene of Ongoing Situation – Update #2

Strathcona County, Alta. - Strathcona County RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle with firearms inside from Edmonton Police Service (EPS) as the vehicle was determined to be travelling in Sherwood Park, Alta. by GPS.

Police located the suspect vehicle but the vehicle fled from police. The suspect vehicle was then located parked on Essex Road in Sherwood Park, Alta. and searched with the assistance of EPS tactical. It was determined the suspects and firearms were not inside the vehicle.
