Strathcona County RCMP Seek Public Assistance

Strathcona County, Alta. – On April 12, 2019 at approximately 8:37 p.m. Strathcona County RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance on Aspen Trail in Sherwood Park. Witnesses observed a female passenger in a vehicle yelling for help while it was driving erratically down the road.  

The suspect vehicle is described as a red van, possibly a Dodge Caravan and was last seen heading west on Aspen Trail from Cloverbar Road.

Police are looking to identify the occupants of the vehicle to ensure their safety and well-being.

Strathcona County RCMP Respond to Bomb Threat – Update #2

Sherwood Park, Alta. – A 68-year-old male had been arrested in relation to a bomb threat at a bank on Baseline Road in Sherwood Park on April 18, 2019.

The male went inside the bank and advised staff that he had a bomb in his briefcase and another inside his vehicle. The RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit attended and determined there were no explosives inside his briefcase or vehicle.

Strathcona County RCMP Respond to Bomb Threat

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are currently on scene at a bank on Baseline Road in Sherwood Park as a result of a bomb threat.

At approximately 3:36 p.m. Strathcona County RCMP responded to a complaint of a distressed male inside the bank stating he has an explosive device. Police evacuated the bank and the male was arrested without incident.

The RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit is on route to assist in the investigation.

An update will be provided when possible. Media and public are requested to stay clear of this police activity.

Strathcona county RCMP Requesting Assistance in Locating Wanted Male

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are looking for public assistance in locating a wanted male who failed to attend court on March 21, 2019 for an armed robbery that occurred on May 8, 2018.

Clayton Joseph Huppie, age 35 of Lac La Biche is alleged to have robbed a female victim at gunpoint, then taking off in her vehicle. Huppie was arrested and released on a recognizance and was scheduled to attend court in March.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Fatal Collision

Strathcona County, Alberta – At approximately 3:20 a.m. Strathcona County RCMP responded to a report of a collision between a car and semi-trailer on Highway 14 near Range Road 232 in Sherwood Park, Alta.

The car was travelling westbound in the eastbound lane when it collided with a semi-trailer.

The 25-year-old male driver of the car was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The driver of the semi-trailer sustained minor injuries.

The name of the deceased is not being released.

Strathcona County RCMP Seek Public Assistance in Historical Fatal Hit and Run

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in a 2016 fatal pedestrian hit and run that occurred in Sherwood Park, Alta.

On Dec. 28, 2016 at 3:46 a.m. Strathcona County RCMP responded to a report of a deceased male found on Highway 21 near Township Road 520. The victim was identified as 28-year-old Phoenix Taypayosatum of Camrose, Alta.

RCMP Collision Reconstructionist determined that Phoenix was struck by a vehicle travelling northbound on Highway 21.

FRAUD PREVENTION TIPS

Strathcona County, Alta. – Fraud Prevention Month is an annual public awareness campaign held in March that works to prevent Canadians from becoming victims of fraud by helping them "Recognize it. Report it. Stop it."

Thousands of Canadians of all ages and from all walks of life are defrauded each year.  There is no typical fraud victim in Canada. Fraud targets Canadians of all ages and from all walks of life and recognizing fraud is the first step to better protecting yourself.
