Strathcona County RCMP Execute Search Warrant Following a Kidnapping Complaint

Strathcona County, Alta. –  On May 11, 2023, Strathcona County RCMP received a report of a kidnapping involving a firearm that occurred in April 2023.

The female victim reported that in mid April she attended a residence in Sherwood Park to gather her belongings when she encountered a known male with a firearm. The victim told police she was assaulted by the male, forced into a vehicle and driven to another location where she was dropped off.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigates Series of Thefts From Motor Vehicles

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are currently investigating numerous thefts from motor vehicles that have been occurring across Sherwood Park, AB. Thefts from vehicles are more likely to occur in areas with many vehicles and minimal pedestrian traffic. Regardless of location, the risk is increased in any place where a vehicle is left running, unattended, unlocked, or with valuables in plain view.

Strathcona County RCMP Warns Residents About the Grandparent’s Scam

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP warns the public about the grandparent’s scam that has been circulating in the area.

Grandparent scams are common scams that target seniors and usually involve a phone call from someone who pretends to be a grandchild a lawyer calling on their behalf. If you get a call like this, be prepared: the scammer may already know your grandchild’s name and what your grandchild calls you (for example, a nickname like Nona or Grampy).

Strathcona County RCMP Arrest Male on Outstanding Warrants and Property Offences

Strathcona County, Alta. – On March 27, 2023 at 5:55 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP received a call of a vehicle that was stuck following a collision with a control box near Township Road 544 and Range Road 222 in Sherwood Park, Alta. Police attended and located a male at that location who refused to provide identification and attempted to flee the scene in the vehicle. With the assistance of Fort Saskatchewan RCMP members and the Police Dog Service the male was arrested.

Strathcona County RCMP on Scene of a Collision on Highway 15

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are currently on scene of a collision involving a semi-trailer and picker truck on Highway 15 near Range Road 213 in Strathcona County, Alta. No injures have been reported.

Traffic is being re-routed around the collision scene and expected to be delayed for several hours to come.

RCMP are asking motorists to avoid the area and choose alternate routes if possible.

An update will be provided once further information is available and traffic is no longer being diverted.

 

Strathcona County RCMP Seeking Public Assistance in Vehicle Collision

Strathcona County, Alta. – On March 13, 2023 at 9:53 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP received a report of a collision eastbound on the Sherwood Park Freeway and 34 Street in Sherwood Park. The collision involved a vehicle, two-axle flat deck truck and a third unknown vehicle. The lone driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Strathcona County RCMP are Seeking Assistance in Identifying an Assault and Theft Suspect

Sherwood Park, Alta. – The RCMP are investigating an assault and theft, and are seeking public assistance to identify the male who is believed to be involved.

On Jan. 27, 2023, at approximately 6:14 p.m., an unidentified male entered a Shoppers Drug Mart on Cloverbar Road in Sherwood Park. Once inside, the male stole a number of perfume boxes and fled on foot from the store.

Strathcona County RCMP Arrest Female Following a Robbery

Strathcona County, Alta. - On Feb. 27 at 4:27 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP received a 911 call of a robbery that occurred in the parking lot of a grocery store on Baseline Road in Sherwood Park, Alta. Police attended and was advised by the victim that they met a female to sell an item from a buy a sell site when the victim was sprayed with bear mace and had the item stolen. The female suspect then fled on foot to a nearby residential area.
