Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Fatal Collision ***UPDATE #1***

Strathcona County, Alberta – This morning at approximately 9:35 a.m. Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services responded to a report of a two vehicle collision on the southbound Highway 216 ramp leading to Highway 14 eastbound.

A commercial delivery truck was travelling on the Highway 216 exit ramp towards Highway 14 eastbound when it collided with the rear-end of a gravel truck parked on the northeast side of the roadway.

The driver of the parked gravel truck was outside of the vehicle at the time and was not injured.

Strathcona County RCMP Warn Residents of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) Bitcoin Scam

Strathcona County, Alberta – In the past month Strathcona County RCMP have seen another variation of the commonly known Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) scam.

Victims are being contacted by phone and told that they have overdue taxes to pay and if they don’t, they will be arrested. In this version, victims have been told to send their money using Bitcoin ATM’s. Victims are told to withdraw cash from their bank account, deposit the cash into a Bitcoin ATM which converts the cash into Bitcoin and then transfer the funds to the caller.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Fatal Collision

Strathcona County, Alberta – Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services are currently on scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision on the southbound Highway 216 ramp leading to Highway 14.

RCMP expect the ramp to be closed for several hours and are asking motorists find an alternate route. Traffic flow on Highway 216 and Highway 14 will not be affected.

No other details are available at this time. Updates will be provided when additional information becomes available.

Strathcona County RCMP – Unfolding Incident ***UPDATE***

Strathcona County, Alberta – Strathcona County RCMP would like to advise the incident has been resolved  on 84th Avenue.

This morning at approximately 2:03 a.m. Strathcona County RCMP responded to a firearms complaint at a business near 18th Street and 24th Street located on 84th Avenue. Police received information that a male pointed a firearm at a female. The female left immediately and contacted police.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Attempted Theft of ATM Machine

Strathcona County, Alberta – On December 8, 2017 at approximately 4:38 a.m. Strathcona County RCMP responded to report of a break and enter at the Esso located on Highway 16 in Ardrossan, Alberta.

Investigation revealed three suspects forced their way into the Esso and wrapped a chain around an ATM machine. The chain was attached to a truck with a flat deck and the suspects attempted to drive away with the ATM machine. Several attempts were made but were unsuccessful when the chain broke.
