Strathcona County RCMP Arrest Male for Drug Offences Following a Traffic Stop

Sherwood Park, Alta. - Strathcona County RCMP arrest a male with drug offences and outstanding warrants following a traffic stop.

On Oct. 31, 2021 at approximately 2:35 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP completed a traffic stop on a vehicle near the Flying J on Pemina Road in Sherwood Park, Alta. Police determined the male driver of the vehicle had outstanding warrants out of Edmonton Police Service.

Strathcona County RCMP Respond to Collision on Highway 16

Strathcona County, Alta. – The Strathcona County RCMP are currently on scene of a two vehicle collision eastbound on Highway 16 between Range Road 223 and Range Road 224 in Sherwood Park, Alta.

Traffic is being re-routed around the collision scene and expected to be delayed for several hours to come.

RCMP are asking motorists to avoid the area and choose alternate routes if possible.

An update will be provided once further information is available and traffic is no longer being diverted.

 

Strathcona County RCMP Continue to Investigate Catalytic Converter Thefts

Strathcona County, Alta. – Theft of catalytic converters continues to be a crime trend and is predominantly a crime of opportunity. The precious metals found in catalytic converters are valuable to scrap metal dealers and recyclers.

Currently catalytic converters do not have serial numbers which makes it very difficult to trace and identify an owner. These thefts have been occurring at all hours and thieves can remove a catalytic converter quickly, often in only minutes.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Firearms Offence and Arrest Male Suspect

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP have arrested a male suspect that allegedly pointed a firearm at a vehicle, following a lengthy investigation.

On Feb. 23, 2021 at 11:38 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP responded to a report of a male pointing a firearm at another motorist while driving on Highway 216 near Sherwood Park, Alta. Police attended the area and patrols were conducted but the suspect was not located. 

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Pedestrian Collision

Sherwood Park, Alta. - On Oct. 23, 2021 at 8:10 p.m., Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services responded to a pedestrian collision at the intersection of Jim Common Drive and Sherwood Drive in Sherwood Park, Alta.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle was turning southbound on Sherwood Drive from Jim Common Drive when it struck a pedestrian.

The 13-year-old victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

Strathcona County RCMP Locate Stolen Property on Kijiji and Male Arrested

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP along with the assistance of the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP have arrested a male attempting to sell a stolen lawnmower on Kijiji.

On Oct. 8, 2021, Strathcona County RCMP Property Crime Unit responded to a report that a suspect was allegedly advertising a stolen property on Kijiji.

The investigation lead officers to Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. and where the suspect was identified and police recovered the stolen lawnmower.

Strathcona County RCMP Restores the School Resource Officer Program

Strathcona County, Alta. – The Strathcona County RCMP is pleased to announce the return of School Resource Officer Program to the community starting in October 2021.

There will be five School Resource Officers (SRO) that will be working cooperatively with school administration, staff, students, parents, and the community. The SRO’s will help to proactively identify and address school concerns and to build relationships between communities, schools and the police.

Slave Lake RCMP and High Prairie RCMP Locate Male Wanted for Robbery and Firearms Offences

High Prairie, Alta. - On Sept. 16, 2021, Slave Lake RCMP and High Prairie RCMP located a male suspect wanted for armed robbery and other firearms offences out of High Prairie, Alta.

The suspect and a female occupant were observed leaving Slave Lake, Alta. in a vehicle and shortly after the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and RCMP Police Dog Service (PDS) were called in to assist with the apprehension.

Police continued to follow the vehicle into Sherwood Park, Alta. where the suspect was driving dangerously and swerving into oncoming traffic.
