Strathcona County RCMP Investigating Two Suspicious Fires

Sherwood Park, Alta. – The Strathcona County RCMP are currently investigating two suspicious fires that occurred within the same week in Sherwood Park, Alta.

On April 27, 2021 at 5:56 a.m., RCMP and Strathcona County Fire responded to a deck fire at a residence on Charlotte Way in Sherwood Park. The homeowner located a small fire on the lower back deck after the fire alarm went off. The fire was extinguished with a garden hose and no injuries were reported. RCMP Police Dog Service attended to assist with the investigation.

Strathcona County RCMP Mail Theft Safety Tips

Sherwood Park, Alta. – In the past week the Strathcona County RCMP have received calls regarding mailboxes which had been broken into along Ridgeland Cres and Dawson Drive in Sherwood Park, Alta. It has not been determined what/if any mail was stolen but because it is a busy time of year for tax returns, Strathcona County RCMP wanted to remind citizens about some basic safety tips regarding mail & parcel delivery:

Strathcona County RCMP Advise of Area Detours During Fire Investigation on Wye Road and Sherwood Drive – Update 2

Strathcona County, Alta.— Strathcona County RCMP, along with the Strathcona County RCMP General Investigation Section, have continued to investigate this structure fire. The fire investigator completed the examination of the structure on April 24, 2021.

On April 24, 2021, Matthew Benjamin Flanagan (32) of no fixed address, was charged with:

Intentionally or recklessly cause damage by fire

Mischief over $5,000

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Robbery at Local Bank

Strathcona County, Alta. – The Strathcona County RCMP are investigating a robbery which occurred on March 10, 2021 at the Scotiabank on Baseline Road in Sherwood Park, Alta.

 

The Strathcona County RCMP is seeking any dashcam footage the public may have of the intersection of Broadview Drive and Broadway Blvd in Sherwood Park between the hours 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 10, 2021.

 

Strathcona County RCMP Assist With Commercial Vehicle Enforcement

Strathcona County, Alta. – On October 29, 2020 Strathcona County RCMP and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Sheriffs Branch conducted a joint operation at the Ardrossan Vehicle Inspection Station.

 

An inspection was completed on a semi-tractor carrying lumber and deemed to be over the allotted weight on the drive axels. The vehicle was placed out of service and the 27-year-old driver from Ontario was issued a violation ticket.

 

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Destruction of Two Intersection Safety Devices

Sherwood Park, Alta. - Strathcona County RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) is currently investigating the destruction of two Intersection Safety Devices (ISD) that occurred in October 2020.

Global Traffic Group contacted police after the ISD located on the southeast corner of Sherwood Drive and Granada Blvd was disabled on Oct. 11, 2020 at approximately 1:30 a.m. A second ISD located on the southwest corner of Wye Road and Brentwood Blvd was disabled on Oct. 24, 2020 at approximately 1:00 a.m.

Strathcona County RCMP Investigate Suspicious Persons Complaint

Sherwood Park, Alta. – On Nov. 2, 2020 at approximately 11:53 a.m. Strathcona County RCMP responded to a residence in the Lakeland Ridge area of Sherwood Park for a suspicious person’s complaint.

The complainant believed he was approached by two individuals impersonating police officers and immediately called police to report.

Police located the individuals and it was determined they are peace officers participating in a legitimate project to assist law enforcement agencies.
