Strathcona County RCMP and Enforcement Services Hold Car Seat Clinic

Sherwood Park, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP & Enforcement Services in partnership with Alberta Health Services, Public Health Nurses conducted a car seat check on June 12, 2019 at the Emerald Hills Walmart parking lot from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Throughout the check, certified car seat technicians inspected child occupant restraints in 107 vehicles.

Strathcona County RCMP Participates in Seniors’ Week

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP is excited to be a part of the upcoming Seniors’ Week celebrations during the first week of June. Seniors make numerous positive contributions to their families, communities and society every single day. This is a week to recognize these contributions and show our support.

The Strathcona County RCMP is offering two information sessions for seniors that will cover RCMP initiatives, crime preventions tips and local crime statistics.

Strathcona County RCMP Respond to Structure Fire and Firearm Complaint

Strathcona County, Alta. - On May 27, 2019 at approximately 6:04 p.m. Strathcona County RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services responded to a structure fire and a distraught male in possession of a firearm near Range Road 204 and Township Road 545.

Containment was set up with the assistance of Edmonton Police Service Air One. The RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) entered the property where one adult male was located and declared deceased.

The structure fire consisting of a residence and outbuilding has been extinguished.

Strathcona County RCMP Arrest Male During Check Stop

Strathcona County, Alta. –  On May 18, 2019 Strathcona County RCMP arrested a male for possession for the purpose of trafficking during a check stop on Baseline Road in Sherwood Park.

At approximately 10:16 p.m. Strathcona County RCMP were conducting a check stop on Baseline Road and 34 Street. Police suspected there to be drugs in the vehicle and the male was arrested.

Subsequently the vehicle was searched and police located what is suspected to be 5 grams of cocaine, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency.

Strathcona County RCMP Remind Motorists to Drive Safely This Long Weekend

Sherwood Park, Alberta – Strathcona County RCMP are reminding residents that although many people have the upcoming long weekend off work, officers will be out in full force throughout the long weekend to ensure drivers are being safe. Motorists can expect to see an increase in traffic volume and a significant increase in the number of RV’s and motorcycles on the roads.

Strathcona County RCMP – Construction Zones

Strathcona County, Alta. -  As the weather warms up residents can expect construction season to start once again this year. The Strathcona County RCMP wants to remind motorists that when you are driving through a construction zone, always obey the posted speed limit, even if you do not see any workers.

Safety is always the highest priority for road construction projects. Speed reductions in construction zones protect both workers and the travelling public.

For the safety of road workers: speed fines are doubled when workers are present.

Strathcona County- Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision

Sherwood Park, Alta. – On April 29, 2019 at approximately 10:19 p.m. a Strathcona County RCMP received a report of a possible impaired driver travelling eastbound on Baseline Road. 

Police located the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Highway 21 and Baseline Road. Emergency lights were activated and a traffic stop was attempted. The vehicle fled and continued driving erratically northbound on Highway 21. No pursuit was initiated due to safety concerns.

Strathcona County RCMP Respond to Grass Fire on Range Road 233

Strathcona County, Alta. – Strathcona County RCMP are currently on scene with fire personnel at a grass fire south of Range Road 233 (Sherwood Drive) in Sherwood Park.

No residences are in the area of the grass fire. Traffic is being re-routed between Township Road 522 and Township Road 520 in Sherwood Park.  The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Strathcona County RCMP Seek Public Assistance

Strathcona County, Alta. – On April 12, 2019 at approximately 8:37 p.m. Strathcona County RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance on Aspen Trail in Sherwood Park. Witnesses observed a female passenger in a vehicle yelling for help while it was driving erratically down the road.  

The suspect vehicle is described as a red van, possibly a Dodge Caravan and was last seen heading west on Aspen Trail from Cloverbar Road.

Police are looking to identify the occupants of the vehicle to ensure their safety and well-being.
